What is HEY MONKEY?
HEY MONKEY is a classic rock band with a twist. We seek to present classic tunes from the 70’s – 80’s -90’s. This is why on any given night you might hear us play Radar Love, Money for Nothing, the Time Warp, Rebel Yell, Footloose or even a little Do Wah Diddy! Overall we try to convey a light-hearted approach to our love for fun music with energy and enthusiasm.
Who is HEY MONKEY?
Gayle Haugen
Gayle is the lead singer of the band and also plays keyboards. Gayle is one of the most energetic singers fronting a band in the Sacramento area and her enthusiasm on stage is captivating and motivating.

Jon Mayfield
Jon is the lead guitar player, who also dabbles with keyboards, and adds his vocals to the mix. Jon is also the musical leader of the group and his arrangements are second to none.
Between sets feel free to challenge Jon to 70’s music trivia. He knows his stuff.
Shannon Newbold
Shannon plays guitars for HEY MONKEY and also is responsible for our sound.
Evan Clark
Evan is our bass player and also does lead and background vocals. His enthusiasm is infectious and entertaining.
Joe Slump
As every musician knows, to have a great band you need a great drummer. And we would love to introduce you the world’s greatest drummer. Unfortunately, Neil Peart, Jon Bonham and Travis Barker were not available, but we did find this guy to fill in.
Joe also likes to sing, but if we are lucky we turn his microphone down so you don’t have to listen to him.
Joe is alway entertaining at our shows, except for the last time when he locked his keys in his car. It took about an hour to get the bass player out.
